Kettl Producer Series: Essentials of Matcha with Masayoshi Koyama - Los Angeles

When our Kettl Matcha Sen Mon Ten space opened in November 2025, the highlight of the weekend was hosting Masayoshi Koyama of Yamamasa Koyamaen for a series of classes and events on the evolving matcha industry in Japan and the global boom. The opportunity to learn from — and share in — the lived experience of a fifth-generation tea maker was something we had long dreamed of bringing to our community.

After the New York events, both Koyama-san and Kettl founder Zach Mangan agreed that we needed to bring this experience to our customers in Los Angeles. With that in mind, we are excited to announce two limited engagements in our private event space in the Arts District on April 4th.

Discover the foundations of matcha through an immersive class exploring how true Uji matcha is grown, crafted, and enjoyed. Guided by Masayoshi Koyama of Yamamasa Koyamaen and Kettl Founder Zach Mangan, guests will learn how tencha is produced, taste the difference between hand-picked and second flush matcha, and the session will finish with a hands-on matcha latte demonstration. This is a rare and incredibly unique opportunity to learn directly from a producer from one of Japan’s oldest and most respected tea-making families. It is an incredible privilege to bring this experience to our community.

This class will be held in our private event space, located at 2301 E 7th Street, Suite D105, in the arts district of Los Angeles. Please note that this space is not accessible outside of events.
